Xenogen IVIS 200 Imager

The Xenogen IVIS 200 Biophotonic Imager excels at imaging light emitted from small animals such as mice or rats but can also be used to image light emitted from Western blots, culture dishes and 96-well plates. The IVIS 200 can quantitate bioluminescent or chemiluminescent signals produced by luciferases and other reporters, as well as fluorescent signals produced by fluorescent proteins (GFP, RFP, etc.) and other fluorescent molecules. The instrument has the capability of imaging light in 2-D or pseudo 3-D mode.

The IVIS 200 is connected to a gas anesthesia unit that allows continuous administration of isofluorane gas for anesthetizing animals during imaging. Imaging times vary from 1 sec to 10 min depending on signal strength. Up to five animals can be imaged simultaneously. Analysis of imaging data is carried out on a separate computer that is available to users. Analysis software can be purchased from Xenogen Corporation to allow analysis by users on their own computers.

Xenogen IVIS
3D Imager

The IVIS 3D Imaging System offers rotational axis imaging of bioluminescent and fluorescent light sources within living animal models. With a unique optomechanical design, the IVIS 3D provides eight imaging views about the longitudinal axis of the animal without physically rotating the animal or the CCD camera. A 3D diffuse tomography version of Living Image software analyzes bioluminescent images to provide the in vivo source brightness, location, and size. The spatial resolution of the reconstruction is 1–3 mm, depending on source location.
