The
Integrated Studies Program (ISP) is a joint admissions
and first year academic program of three Sackler School PhD
programs – Biochemistry; Cell and Molecular Physiology; and
Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology. The Sackler School
of Graduate Biomedical Sciences recognizes that there is a
basic core of knowledge that is required for students
considering specializations in any of these areas of
biomedical sciences.
In
the first year, the Integrated Studies Program blends
problem-based and didactic learning with abundant hands-on
laboratory experience. This well-balanced approach empowers
the students as they make decisions regarding their preferred
areas of research specialization at the end of their first
year. As the portal of entry into any one of three basic
science Ph.D. programs—Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular
Physiology, and Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology—the
ISP has been tailored to meet the individual needs of
every student, regardless of whether career plans point to
academia, biotechnology or pharma-based pursuits.
